Continuing my latest 'sweeps month' (September, 2015), I have another 'photo-op', taken at ZooMiami (formerly the Miami Metrozoo), Circa the 1990s...
Linda Meris Skwer (my friend from New York City) and I took in all the sites and attractions at ZooMiami - including a live wild animal show at a very large outdoor arena. There, several zoo associates brought out various fauna , so that the audience can view them up close and personal.
One particular associate specialized in displaying all sorts of exotic birds, including one native to Florida. In this snapshot, she is showing off a screech owl (an avian creature I have seen in the wild, in the past - including several times during my 'janitorial gig' from 2007 to 2015). The last time I saw an owl up close was a burrowing owl near a 'dog park' in the Tamarac area. My brother Glenn and I came across a restricted area where these ground-dwelling birds reside and are protected by law.
