CHAPTER 4:
The School of Friendship was more busy and diverse than ever before. In its initial semester, the school hosted a largely Equestrian population of ponies with the exception of one griffon, one hippogriff, one changeling, one yak, and one dragon. Now there were just as many other creatures attending Ponyville’s School of Friendship as there seemed to be Unicorns, Pegasi, and Earth Ponies.
“Hey, Spike!” called a familiar voice. “I didn’t think I’d be seeing you here today!”
Spike gasped as he firmly gripped the straps of his backpack.
“Smolder?” he replied while turning to see the orange-colored dragon smiling at him. “Why are you here?”
“Orientation,” she shrugged. “Princess Ember thinks that my success with The School of Friendship means that I’m the most qualified to babysit the newbies.”
“Is that really such a bad thing?” asked Starlight Glimmer as she and Sunburst came upon where Spike and Smolder were having their conversation.
“I suppose it’s better than having to help organize The Hatchling Gauntlet,” she huffed while folding her arms over her chest. “However, being honest, I suppose I am just jealous I didn’t have such an opportunity when I was a hatchling.”
“What brings you here, Spike?” Sunburst asked nervously. “Twilight usually sends a note to inform us of any visits she may make to the school. Is there some kind of emergency?”
“Emergency…?” worried Spike over how it was an urgent matter, but nothing he wanted to involve more than the school’s principal with. “No! I just, uh, had something I needed to talk to Starlight about.”
“What’s up, Spike?” asked Starlight.
The purple-colored dragon blushed as all eyes were now on him.
“It’s…,” he struggled to say. “A magical artifact that, I, uh, need help in, uh, identifying.”
“Oh!” chimed Sunburst. “I’m quite good when it comes to identifying magical artifacts.”
“Sounds like a plan to me,,” assured Starlight. “I’ll catch up with you two after Smolder and I finish showing the new students around the campus.”
“O-okay…,,” he bashfully replied upon realizing how he now would be explaining why he had a sleeper in his size tucked away inside his backpack to more than just Starlight.
Sunburst gestured for the emerald-eyed dragon to follow him as Starlight and Smolder headed off to welcome the new dragons to The School of Friendship.
***
“Hmm,” Sunburst thought as he adjusted his glasses. “Beyond the scent of foal powder, I can’t really tell you much about this particular pair of pajamas.”
“I’m trying to figure out where they came from,” insisted Spike. “They were left behind by a baby dragon who Discord had brought in to a game of Ogres & Oubliettes we were playing a few years ago.”

“There doesn’t appear to be any identifying tags on it,” The cloak-wearing Unicorn remarked while using his magical aura to lift the sleeper into the air for a better view of the garment. “There is some kind of magic infused into the fabric itself, but it is nothing that I’m familiar with.”
CA-CLICK
“Hey, guys!” greeted Starlight as she came into Sunburst’s office. “What do you got there?”
Spike gulped as he began to realize that bringing such an item to The School of Friendship was not such a good idea.
“Spike is trying to figure out where he can get a pair of pajamas like these,” Sunburst replied while levitating the sleeper towards Starlight.
“Have you asked Twilight?” Starlight curiously inquired. “Do you remember who gave you this pair to wear?”
Spike’s cheeks were now burning beet-red with embarrassment.
“They’re not mine,” he replied with frustration. “They were from a dragon who Discord had brought from some other place while we were playing Ogres & Oubliettes a few years back.”

“I wasn’t sure the first time,” the draconequus stated as he suddenly appeared within Sunburst’s office. “However, I now know that something is going on that most definitely requires my attention.”
Spike slumped himself upon the floor as he covered his face with his hands.
“Perhaps you can help us with this?” inquired Starlight. “Spike seems to be trying to find out where these pajamas came from.”

“I see,” teased the draconequus. “Plenty of room in the waist for Spike to wear a diaper along with this particular pair of PJs.”
“I don’t-” Spike tried to protest.

“-thuck-Thuck-Thuck,” was all the purple-colored dragon could say after Discord used his chaos magic to put a blue pacifier into his mouth, which also came with a purple-trimmed bib with Twilight’s picture on it and a thick, disposable diaper that had prints of dice, pencils, and other items associated with playing a tabletop game.
“Isn’t he just adorable!” proclaimed Discord as he took hold of the sleeper in his pawed hand. “Now for the finishing touch!”

It made no logical sense, but Discord pulled the sleeper down over Spike’s head, down his body, and let go at Spike’s feet to fully dress the babied dragon into the sleeper.
“Voila!” gestured Discord as he put his other hand on the embarrassed dragon to spin him around so his back was facing both Sunburst and Starlight.
PAT-CRINKLE-PAT
“Doesn’t he just have the most adorable diaper-butt?” the draconequus cooed.
“…,” both Starlight and Sunburst could say nothing as they watched Discord treat Spike like an overgrown toddler.
“Well, Spike,” the draconequus grinned as he raised his hand into the air. “I do think it is time for your playdate.”
SNAP!
POOF!
“What’d you do to him, Discord?” Starlight asked with a hint of anger in her voice upon noticing that Spike was no longer in the room with them.
“Oh, Starlight,” replied Discord. “I simply sent him to where he could find more of those pajamas that look simply adorable on him.”
“And where’s that?” wondered Sunburst.
“Hmm,” the draconequus hummed. “I believe I’ll let Spike answer that question when he returns.”

POOF!
“That was weird,” stated Sunburst as Discord disappeared in a flash of light.
“It’s always weird when it comes to Discord,” sighed Starlight. “However, as I have no ability to use Chaos Magic, we’ll just have to wait and see what this is all about.”
CHAPTER 5:
Nixi, the Unicorn mother to twin baby dragons, had just finished putting her sons down for their nap.
“I’ll never stop being so proud of my little ones,” she softly said to herself as she started to walk down from the second floor of her mansion. “They’re just so playful and inquisitive.”
KA-THUNK!
“Huh…,” the white-coated caretaker wondered upon hearing the sound of something slamming down on a pile of pillows. “That can’t be Leon, or Parker…”
Nixi trotted towards the front door of her home, opened the door, and stared straight towards where she believed the sound had come from.
“Hello?” she asked while looking all about in search of what had made the sound. “Is someone there?”

Looking towards the sky, Nixi spotted someone dressed much like her son, Leon, caught in the comfy confines of the barrier that protected her pocket dimension from intruders.

Nixi used the magic of her horn to pull the pajama clad intruder from the invisible, bounce house-like barrier, encased them in a bubble, and lowered them to the ground in front of her.
“What do we have here?” she inquired as she took notice of the purple dragon that was nursing on a pacifier while wearing a noticeable diaper beneath one of her son’s sleepers.

The purple-colored dragon spit out the pacifier and looked towards the white-coated Unicorn who was now looking very closely at him from the outside of the bubble.
“Hey!” he cried. “Could you please let me out of here?”

Nixi lowered her horn, popped the bubble, and the emerald-eyed dragon fell flat on his protected, padded posterior.
“Spike…?” she inquired with recognition of the mint-green colored ear fins that went along with the other features she was familiar with of Twilight Sparkle’s number one assistant. “How did you get here?”
“Discord,” he groaned as he stood up and dusted himself off while giving off a cacophony of crinkles from the diaper that he was wearing underneath Leon’s pajamas.
“The draconequus?” she asked with surprise. “No wonder you got stuck inside the magical barrier. Ever since that game of Ogres & Oubliettes he dragged my boys into, I made sure to put up proper protections to keep Leon and Parker safe from such shenanigans.
“So I did make it,” he remarked with a smile.
“You wished to come here, Spike?” asked Nixi. “Given you’re wearing Leon’s missing pair of pajamas, I would assume you wanted to have a playdate with my boys?”
“Playdate?” wondered the purple-colored dragon as he became, once again, fully aware of what he must look like to the Unicorn who stood before him. “Well, uh, I suppose you could call it a playdate.”
Nixi narrowed her eyes.
“Could you please be more specific?” she asked while glaring towards Spike.
Spike gulped nervously as he knew he had to make his next words count.
“Well, you see,” he struggled to say. “There’s a contest going on in The Dragon lands tomorrow that only baby dragons can enter into.”
“So why don’t you enter?” the caretaker stated. “You’re most definitely a baby dragon if you are wearing my son’s pajamas, using a pacifier, and in need of such a bulky diaper.”
Spike blushed.
“I can’t,” he bashfully replied. “You see, if I could get myself out of this sleeper Discord forced me into, you’d see I have wings and only those young dragons who have yet to go through the molt are allowed to participate in the competition.”
“The molt?” wondered Nixi as she activated the power of her horn.

The Unicorn, who had a blue mane and tail, used her magic to remove her son’s sleeper from Spike. This allowed her a clear view of the bat-like wings that Spike had on his back.
“Interesting,” she remarked. “Though this doesn’t explain why you can’t enter the contest.”
“What do you mean?” wondered Spike with disbelief. “Dragons who have wings are no longer considered hatchling in The Dragon Lands.”
“But,” she giggled. “You’re still in diapers. Surely a dragon in diapers is still a baby dragon who can participate in these Hatchling Games.”
Spike looked down to face the poofy-padding that enveloped his waist.
“Argh!” he growled as he attempted to tear off, pull down, and remove the tapes from the diaper that Discord had placed him into. “Discord put me in this and I can’t get it off.”
Nixi grew a warm, motherly smile as she, again, charged her horn with magic.

POOF-WUFF
“Were you looking for something a bit less bulky?” she teased while levitating the diaper she had removed from Spike in the air. “These adorable prints seem right up my boys’ alley and, if you’d like, I could change you into a much slimmer diaper that would allow you to feel more comfortable while showing off your love of games?”
Spike was starting to feel he was not making any progress with the motherly Unicorn.
“No, but thanks,” he said as respectfully as he possibly could. “I just need to know if your boys would be willing to enter a fun competition that has a prize that it really shouldn’t have.”
“What do you mean,” asked Nixi.
***
The next few minutes were spent with Spike telling Nixi about ‘The Alicorn Amulet’ and how it empowers any Unicorn who wears it with immense power at the price of becoming a tyrant who endlessly seeks to conquer and subjugate those they come into contact with. He also explained how the wearer has to be the one to remove the amulet in order to end the curse and how getting the one with ‘The alicorn Amulet’ to part with it is far easier said than done.
***
“…I know your boys are special,” pleaded Spike. “I assure you that the amulet is safe to anyone who is not a Unicorn and that, should you allow them to come with me for the competition, they will have a good time and have a chance to meet lots of new friends.”
“Hmm,” hummed Nixi as she considered all that Spike had to say.
“WE’LL DO IT!” two voices called out before the motherly Unicorn could answer.
Nixi looked behind herself as Spike focused towards the back of the Unicorn caretaker to see two black-colored dragons clad in disposable diapers appearing very eager to take him up on his offer.
CHAPTER 6:
Nixi used her magic to safely teleport Spike and her sons to the outskirts of The Dragon Lands. She also put Twilight’s number one assistant to work as her number one babysitter.
“Like you’re going to win,” Parker teased as he poked his twin brother. “Knowing you, I bet you’ll wimp out before the end of the first round.”
KAPUMPF!
“You’ll wimp out and cry for mommy to take you home before the first round
!” Leon retaliated as he shoved his brother.
“Guys!” Spike cried as he did his best to keep pace with Leon and Parker as he shouldered their excessively heavy diaper bag. “If you have enough energy to argue, why don’t you help me carry this bag of stuff your mother insisted we bring along?”
The boys’ eyes grew wide as they turned to look towards each other before looking back at Spike.
“We’re not arguing,” Leon said with an innocent smile.
“We promise to be good for the rest of the trip,” added Parker as he winked towards his brother, put his arm behind his back, and crossed his fingers.
“Yeah!” agreed Leon while he, too, crossed his fingers behind his back. “We promise to be good hatchlings for the rest of the trip.”
“Ungh…,” sighed Spike as he clearly saw both boys gesturing to each other in a way that made him know that it was going to be just as much of a competition between the black-scaled boys before and during The Hatchling Gauntlet.
***
After about an hour long journey, which would normally take only a matter of minutes, the dragon trio reached the region of The Dragon Lands where The Hatchling Gauntlet was to take place.
“Wow!” awed Leon upon seeing all the different colors, sizes, and shapes of hatchlings that had gathered in preparation for the competition. Most of which were accompanied by one, or more, adult dragons who were coaching their children on how to win the forthcoming competition. “I wish our mommy could be here to help us be winners, too.”
“Sorry about that,” coddled Spike as he gently rubbed at Leon’s wingless back. “This is a dragon only event meant to foster friendship and good sportsmanship for the dragons here in The Dragon Lands.
“Is your mommy here?” Parker asked innocently.
“…,” the purple-scaled dragon was at a loss for words about how to answer that question. For years he had hoped to come across his real mother and father during his adventures with Twilight and her friends. However, despite one dragon who pretended to be his father, he had no luck in finding his mother, father, or any other relation to himself that wasn’t a pony.
“You don’t listen to mommy’s stories, do you, Parker?” Leon stated while glaring towards his brother. “Because, if you did, you’d know that Twilight Sparkle is Spike’s mommy.”
[PURSH[/i]
“I knew that!” the purple-bellied dragon replied as he used his hand to push Leon away. “His mommy is a Unicorn just like our mommy!”
Spike blushed as he noticed some of the nearby dragons stop and stare at him and the two hatchlings he had brought along with him.
“Hey,” a distressed Spike stated. “How about we go and get you two registered for the competition?”
Leon and Parker both nodded their heads in agreement prior to falling in line behind Spike.
***
“What are you up to, Spike?” asked Ember as he brought Leon and Parker before The Dragon Lord. “These two are clearly not from The Dragon Lands.”
“True,” the emerald-eyed dragon smugly replied. “However, they are both hatchlings who have not gone through the molt.”
Princess Ember looked at Leon and Parker and how neither had a pair of wings spread across their back.
“Are you trying to sabotage the event?” she growled. “I thought you were supposed to be the Ambassador of Friendship? Kind of unfriendly to come and bring two hatchlings in to enter a contest just because you can’t enter it yourself.”
“No, no, no,” Spike nervously assured. “Leon and Parker are friends of mine to whom I thought I would, in the name of friendship, extend an offer for them to compete in the competition.”
“…,” the Dragon Lord gritted her teeth as she looked towards the twin, baby dragons. “What is it that they are wearing? Is it made to give them an unfair advantage against the other hatchlings in the competition?”
“I think I can explain,” a female voice stated as a white-scaled dragon clad in a blue toga came into view. “Those are baby diapers. They basically act as a way to keep hatchlings from making messes all over the place when they have yet to learn how to use the piddle pit.”
Spike, Leon, Parker, and Ember all looked with confusion towards the toga-wearing dragon who had a large, pointed horn poking out from her forehead.
FYOO
Ember’s eyes glowed a shade of blue for the briefest of moments.
“I wondered where you had gotten yourself off to!” she snapped towards the newcomer. “I have more important things to do than deal with adding more names to the list of hatchlings competing in this competition.”
“Mom…?” asked Leon as he noticed a strong similarity between Nixi and the dragon standing before them.
“Shh,” she shushed while closing the distance between herself and the twins. “It took some effort, but the polymorph magic finally worked so I could come and make sure you two are safe while taking part in this competition.”
“What did you do to Princess Ember?” worried Spike as he anxiously looked towards Nixi in her dragon form.
“Oh!” she replied dismissively. “All I did was create some memories of her having me help her oversee the competition.”
“Way to go, mom!” cheered Parker as he ran to hug around one of Nixi’s massive legs.
“Yay, mom!” Leon proclaimed as he joined in the hug by snuggling around Nixi’s other leg.
“That’s my boys,” she cooed while using her hands to lift both Leon and Parker up for a big hug against her chest. “Mommy loves you!”
Spike sighed as he realized that, more than likely, he never had to carry that heavy diaper bag in the first place. However, what mattered now was winning The Hatchling Gauntlet and recovering ‘The Alicorn Amulet’.
