In order to survive, the Eshin clan first had to establish food production. Some picked mushrooms and berries in the forest, others began to cultivate the land in exchange for fruits and vegetables. But there were also those who bred animals, primarily for meat. Over time, breeders began to find more and more bizarre animals and bring them to the head of the clan in the hope of reward and approval of the mount. The choice fell on a giant rat that carried out all the commands of one enthusiast. This skaven claimed that anyone could tame such a monster if they showed patience, in return the clan would receive excellent heavy cavalry. This is how the purposeful ratman created the brotherhood of packmasters, instructing the younger ones and thinking about new projects. Unfortunately, not all riders had to tame their pets without a whip and sharp objects as their leader could, on the body of every second giant rat there are traces of cruel treatment. In any case, the packmasters solved the problem of what to oppose to the cavalry of other nations if necessary. Also, all packmasters know rat anatomy, so those who could not become a rider change their profession to clan healer, since the organism of giant rat and skaven is very similar.
