Not everyone in the Caerbannog clan is born with as much talent for magic as witches. Those who do not have magic become dexterous assassins and scouts. However, those members of the clan whose magic was weakened learned to use it to control animals, and the most successful choice was to tame dark elf lizards as mounts. This is how the Caerbannog clan got fast cavalry with light shadowsteel armor (and a shield that the dark elves don’t like) but armed with a heavy spear that deals even more damage from a running start (inspired by dark elves grim raiders from HoMM V).
