Since my step was making these premade pork things with stuffing (which does not end well in my tummy, at all), time for "Plan B"!
~ 2 thawed cube steaks, cut into strips
~ 2 tablespoons corn starch
~ 1 large onion, chopped
~ 2 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped
~ 1 large red pepper, cored and deseeded, cut into strips
~ 5 large mushrooms, washed and sliced
~ 1 leftover package of udon noodles with spice packet discarded, then sliced
~ 1/4 cup water
~ 1 tablespoon honey
~ 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic chili crunch
~ 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce or kecap manis
~ About 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
~ 1 big wok to cook it all in :P
You want to have your meat thawed but not entirely frozen - this will make it easier to cut the meat.
Coat the meat with the corn starch (you can just use a large Ziploc bag and do a "shake and bake") - which does 2 things -
1.) It gives the meat a good chew;
and 2.) It will also thicken your sauce as you cook things along!
You want to start things off by getting your wok to high heat with the vegetable oil right in there.
When you see it start to shimmer, that's when it's time to start to cooking.
Add your garlic and onions and cook to translucent;
Then add your mushrooms and peppers;
Then your meat and noodles, along with the 1/4 cup water (that helps loosen up the noodles as it cooks)
Only needs about 5 - 6 minutes to cook, then add your chili crunch, honey and soy sauce at the end!
Then plate and serve (my plate sucked in the photos, I'll try again tomorrow)
Enjoy!
