Autumn Theology"The careless theologian of other religions claim there is only life and death. This is simply wrong, for life is brief and death is sudden. There is a longer and more delicate process of rot, age itself is a decay of life which turns children into old things across many years. There is a power, a sweet spot if you will, in this decay. This is where the Fall Father drew his power from, and it is where he broke the lie of the Circle." -Autumn Reich Monk"I may still have the collar about my neck, but it amused me quite greatly how careful the baron was to not call me slave." -Oturan Autumn MonkThe Fall Father was more than just a rebellious leader, he was a prophet and great theologian to the Fearum. Druidry often had a more nefarious purpose to it than just being a religion the Ratik adopted and spread, it was a religion designed to prove the Ratik's empire to be eternal. Although this ideal faded, it did not fade fast enough for it to avoid being exploited by the likes of the Fall Father. Known as the Rotting Heresy to the Ratik, the Fall Father preached of a divine power found in the decay of creatures which outlived and rebuked the Circle. To the Fearum, their religion isn't a separate entity of the Circles, but a final culmination of what the Circles. The Autumn Reich's religion teaches that the Circle is ultimately a lie spread by the Ratik, and that the rot and decay of life is a 'third and final' element which separates life and death.
Magic authorities in the Reich are also religious institutions. Various abbeys, made in the twisted image of Curdan churches, became the homes of not only to the monks who dwell inside, but also the base of operations to a number of Princes. The monks inside these abbeys play a vital role not only in society, but also to the economic stability of the Reich. The realm's aura of eternal fall comes with a number of consequences, many of them offset by mages such as the Autumn Monks and their Prince overlords who make sure fields are kept growing, lumber from trees does not decay rapidly into dirt, and metal smithing remains 'normal'. Monks spend most of their days doing these menial tasks and often live isolated lives from others. It is forbidden for most mages to get into politics, something not seen in other nations. Instead, the mage authorities all directly answer to the Fall Father's elite priesthood.
Most monks are Fearum, but the monks are not picky on which gifted come into their hands. A number of their peers are Hedgehogfolk and otterfolk, with otterfolk monks being of a unique variety. Since most otterfolk into the Reich are slaves, many of the new mages who come to them are slaves as well, usually starting as children who grow up amongst the monks. Most other nations, such as Nor Curndia, often allow slave mages some autonomy or are put under the control of a guild. Yet, the Autumn Reich is unique in the sense of having their enslaved mages get special positions within their orders, put under the control of a monk overseer who trains and handles them. While Fearum monks are trusted to go out into the Beastfolk states to cause havoc by starting rotting cults, most non-Fearum stay at home, doing most economic menial chores. Fearum nobles often are uncomfortable and afraid of these mages, partly fearing that they would become 'wild' and enact some manner of vengeance on them with their studied magic.
