The Orange Nobility"It's about time you learn the true order of the hierarchy, Ratik. There is me, my duke, my barons, then we have my priests, my knights, and my merchants. There are of course below them the Higvar, the peasantry, the free otterfolk, the slaves in my camp. Below those miserable creatures are animals such as my wargs, the birds of the forest, and below birds are insects and flies. You want to know what is below the flies? I sure do hope you don't have to guess, Great Warlord." -Fearum Emperor to the Great Warlord of Vadland"Okay, but seriously, why the heck do they look like Curdans?" -Confused Black Captain on Fearum NobilityThe Fall Father when he first went about reforging the Fearum had a vision of his people, a goal which he wished them to obtain as he watched them. This goal was that the Fearum would be civilized and mighty, like how the Curdans had overcome the elves, so too would the Fearum overcome the Ratik in time. Thus the Fall Father made sure his people not only dressed and spoke like the Curdans, he made sure they lived like and fought like them. This strange obsession was the Fall Father's design, one which he would only half remember. The Autumn Reich had built their lands like Empara Curdia, a realm of the Fearum ruled by an all powerful emperor. There are dukes and barons beneath them, and the same systems the Fall Father had seen as a soldier in their lands were molded into a twisted version in the new lands he would call the Autumn Reich, ruled by his own blood relatives who remain the emperors of the realm to this day.
The Autumn Reich is in many ways a comical re-creation of the Curdan Empire and human culture, having been all molded into what it is today by the Fall Father and his princes. Yet, this re-creation is not perfect, as not everything the Curdans have can truly be replicated in the Autumn Reich. The Curdan love of horses was replaced somewhat by a speciality of riding wargs. Wargs are large, wolf-like beasts which were brought out of the north, domesticated into mounts by the Ratik but were mastered by the Fearum. Fearum nobility take on a strange mockery of knights and chivalric code. Like Curdans, they too belong to knightly orders, although they are more free willed and their orders are more passive. Fearum Knights have oddly specific codes of chivalry, often being almost comical in their re-creation. One such code found amongst Curdans was a defense of fair ladies, which came to be interrupted by the Fearum that their knights had to take vows to only defend women during festival fairs.
Nearly all the major nobility of the Fearum are related to a Prince, and although the Princes are the true power, it is the nobles who do most of the dirty work. Living in the lap of luxury, Fearum nobles command the peasantry and administer their realms. Like the Curdans who value war, the old Fearum traditions still retain value and mix into the new political system they had adopted. Fearum do not wage war on one another, but they do have special pitched battles to settle disputes. Trials by combat are a regular occurrence, as much as kidnappings and other less savory traditions. Having been left to their own devices for so long, and being unable to fully utilize their military resources they acquired, most Fearum nobles are considered half mad or even downright insane. Fearum nobles are absurdly petty and often out of touch, often coming off as otherworldly in both speech and skill.
