I think they get crazed and murderous when they have too little to do and their tiny mind starts to try to DIG INTO deeper toughts like "what is existance' and thats the limit of that attention span and well. They snap i think and go into a deadly crazed state. The thing is i think yannit has become.... part of the family at (whatever the place they are in rn is)
As long as yannit stays in contact with the 'family' of friends they've seemingly made. Shit wont hit the fan.

What does Kassen want (aside from the obvious)? He had plans to move up the ranks, and know he's reached that goal under less than ideal circumstances. He states in page 8 of the prologue he doesn't want to be a "charity case," which leads me to believe he wants to feel important, or perhaps useful.
I've said this before way back, there's nothing wrong with providing transportation or even cleaning out the tiplod pens as him and Elim had done. Those are jobs that need doing, it's being useful to do them, but it most likely doesn't come with the appreciation or respect that I'm sure Kass is looking for as well.
Right now, Kass can't respect himself nor does he believe he'll get much appreciation for being a scav. He's beginning to take to being useful, but honestly I want to know what he wanted to do specifically as a diplomat before he was a yinglet, or had he even thought that far?
I also want to know *Jerry Seinfeld voice* what's the deal with flashbacks? How do those relate? It makes me wonder if he feels somewhat ashamed for running, yet still traumatized, and wants to make something of himself in Val Salia. So perhaps when his story is told, he ran away, not to be a coward, but to prosper and help others prosper, and he did it through hard labor and using his witts.
Of course, that's not quite what happened, but I'm curious what Kass's next move is. Obviously, he wants to revert back to normal, but that'll have to take a backseat for now while he deals with what he can do.

I believe he mentioned being "a merchant at heart" in the prologue, so perhaps his goal was to move up the ranks of House Ivenmoth, getting into a more mercantile position. "Diplomat" was thrust on him after and because of his transformation.
It's my belief that what he mostly wants is control. Over his life. Even when on the run fighting for his life and fighting in the flashbacks, he had the ability to fight, to protect people he cared about like Elim, he had things he could do. He feels trapped as a passenger of fate, toyed with by the universe and the Trademaster and Matriarch Vizlet and pretty much everyone that isn't one of his Friends. I'd have to reread the archives (yet again) to construct a timeline, but I think it's still been less than a week since his transformation, since he's had everything ripped out from under him in a constant existential crisis. He likely feels a lot like he did when on the run. Dinlan had fallen, he was a deserter, his whole life uprooted, his home gone, his home country wiped off the maps, nothing but The Moment was real enough to rely on, and all he could do was React to what was happening and scramble to keep from falling into the abyss.
So this is him seeking a way to reestablish some measure of Control over his life. And it goes as well as anything else is going for him, because the universe simply cannot resist kicking a yinglet. ^.^

I swear Ran has the ability to make anything he does sound SO much worse when told to anyone else. Even with context. And if told without context well it is about 100 times worse.
Like with context I am pretty sure it is to find a way so she won't go crazy. Without context it just sounds like he has a smell fetish or something.
I just realised... Ran is basically this universes equivelent to Sheogorath. Make sure he doesn't get any magic or else we may end up with the Lusty Yinglet Maid or something.

Hi folks! I'm back again to remind you that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
Oops has been slowly climbing in the ranks, and closed out last month at 45th place and about 1065 votes. It's currently at 802 votes and 57th place. The top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

If only Kass knew how useful Ran's tests on Yannit actually are.
Maybe a touch unethical, but only a minor transgression for a potentially enormous payoff; discovering aromatics that could substitute for indrel pheromones', and allow indrel to live outside their hives without going insane from what is, in effect, a form of psychotic sensory deprivation for them.
While indrel wishing to live beyond their hives are no doubt vanishingly few in number, the advancement of that knowledge would be unbelievably useful just in diplomatic endeavors. Consider a well trained diplomat speaking to an indrel colony while wearing bracers that, with a touch, would release a small puff of a fragrance, in combination with the spoken word, as a sort of blended trade-language between human and indrel.
ALso, i REALLY adore your world building, especially i nthe realm of non-human species. Not just "not human" but entirely inhuman, both in terms of physiology, psychology, and the implications thereof.
Rare to see writers go very far from a human baseline, and even those that do, rarer stil lto see them consider beyond the most superficial layer of 'make the alien do weird things.'
(Being a furry and a TF enthusiast probably helps a lot there? motivation!)
