It finally happened. The Uranus Chronicles are going to the dogs.
Petey, Dolly, Duke, Dash, and Lucky are characters from The Puppy's New Adventures, an animated series that debuted in the United States forty years ago this month (Sept. 25th, to be exact), and are based on characters created by Jane Thayer for her book, The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy, which was first published in 1958 and later adapted as an episode of ABC Weekend Specials. I don't know about the book, but the series is copyright to Hanna-Barbera and Ruby-Spears Enterprises, and I'm guessing is now owned by Warner Brothers.
For the series, Petey was voiced by Billy Jacoby. Dolly was voiced by Nancy McKeon, who at the time was more famous for playing Jo Polniaczek on The Facts of Life. Duke and Dash were voiced - very differently from each other - by veteran voice actor Michael Bell. Lucky was voiced by Peter Cullen, who was soon to become much more famous as the voice of Autobot leader Optimus Prime.
Robert Mirtelas, Charlie Trelker, and all other characters in this episode are (C) me, RC Gumby.
