Basically used this recipe with a few slight variations like including a touch of sake to the liquid ingredients in the sauce portion as well as fresh ginger that I had minced to replace the ground ginger. Included toasted seasame seeds for a final touch.

I sometimes do it separate too on account of the main part of this recipe being essentially a really tasty popcorn chicken. However there is this awesome restraint down the street that does such a good job with their sauce that (unlike mine that just has enough coating the chicken) is absolutely dripping gin sauce and is so gosh darn good.
