Poor Isabelle. She really isn't have a good day, is she? I rather suspect she's going to take this one personally, when she wakes up. But who ever expects to get attacked for real in the training hall, especially by an invisible enemy?!
It really is quite clever of Lauren to think to spray the room with water rather than just assuming that because they can't see someone, that means there isn't anyone else in the room. It's no wonder why she got picked to be the master of water with that kind of quick thinking. I just hope her friends are equally quick on their feet should things come down to a serious fight!

While no doubt she was taken by surprise, given who attacked her even if she'd seen him coming she probably still would've gone down, at least in this stage of the mythology.
Lauren knows about all the Talwyn arts plus she's rather intuitive. She can sense someone is there, but while there are ways to bend light to make oneself difficult to see, one can't remove one's physical mass from the equation. As a matter of fact, this entire story/comic came from the imagination of the visual. Filling the room with droplets of water until a shape is revealed. :) Lucas saw her ability to see beyond the obvious and knew it would come in handy given the political climate at the time.
