This is an important picture. The management of Centreville have told us that they do not want Furries wearing fursuits on their grounds because they might attract attention away from their own mascot. None of us have ever seen their mascot; the costume is not featured or disclosed in any way in their website. We figured it was really about insurance.
Well, here he is in all his glory; Beastley Bear, the Centreville mascot! His seams show. His cuffs show. He's rumpled. He's flattened through his Z-axis, head and body. His tail is just a lump on his arse. The wearer looks through the mouth. I never got a clear shot of his face, but it's not very good either. I've seen some dodgy fursuits, but I've never seen a fursuit maker do a worse job than this.
I have a new theory about why they don't want fursuits on their grounds. They don't want us showing up their mascot!

A fursuiter I know from my area attended an event a couple of years ago where a couple of costumed characters were being featured. He got to wander, got pictures with the featured characters, did a few other antics, for maybe 15 minutes before the event organizers approached him and asked him to leave. Apparently his fursuit was embarrasingly superior to the costumed characters (I saw the pictures).
Took me a few minutes to track them down, but here's an LJ post, second picture.
The only regular meet I know of is First Wednesday at Old Spaghetti Factory. It's organized by some of the people on the 
urnalequinox concom. They happen on the first Wednesday of every month, (so the next one would be April 2nd), at the Old spaghetti Factory at 54 The Esplanade, (1 block south of Front St E between Scott St and Church St, maybe 4.5-5 blocks from Union Stn.) Gather about 6:30pm, sit down at 7:00pm, ask for Shane's group.) There might be other regular meets that I don't know about.
However, there's an irregular meet happening this Saturday! It's at the Golden Griddle on Carlton near Jarvis, starting at about 10:00am, (brunch meet), all invited.
Kindar who's organizing it, will probably be going around to comic shops afterwards. (There are several on Yonge.) Some will probably go with him, others wander off elsewhere. I want to come; I might finally go see Frozen after brunch, or maybe straight home, depending on how I feel.
BTW, the Torfur group aren't banned from Centreville... our cash is as good as anybody's... we're just not allowed to wear our fursuits there. Also, (if it's not obvious), the meets above are both food meets, so fursuits would probably get in the way of eating.
