i read some of Ruthven Todd's “Space Cat” books (written in late 50s) when a wee tad in mid 60s...

Then read R.Crumb's underground comix of “Fritz The Cat” in early 70s...
i forget if it was 7th or 8th grade when i wrote/drew a couple dozen pages of “Spaced Cat” (putting these two ideas together) for myself and friends laffs....had anthro characters before that....and many after...
When i saw early furry comix Gallacci,Wyman, etc...i was like “Kyoool! Other folks are doing what i've been doing since i was a kid!”
So, no it's not Erma....maybe a bit of influence....

Way back i read somewhere where Steve Gallacci was sort of appalled that people didn't get what he was doing - just glanced ans the book covers and went "Yeah, Kitties In Space...." And i thought, wtf, why not, would be a cute series of pin-up pics....
The irony came around ten years later when my own fur world series of stories found that they would get entangled in a human vs. alien space war....
See, now, if they had catbabes in "He-Man", I woulda actually WATCHED the show!

...but, yeah, she didn't come along until She-ra i guess...or did she? Can't recall....but, yeah, not a cat, not much of a babe....But she wasn't really bad, she was just (all together now) drawn that way!
