Pearl’s jeep pulled up into the driveway of her adoptive brother Sly. “Well, we’re here.” she said to her passenger, her little sister Sakura. Sakura took off her seatbelt and turned to open the door only to recoil in shock at the sight of the face pressed against the window. “What’s wrong kiddo?” asked Pearl before gasping herself as she noticed the black and white face just outside the passenger side window.
Sly sat at his desk, writing out ideas for a new story he was working on when a light knock on his door announced the arrival of a visitor. “Come in.” he said, not looking up from the page. “Sly. Sakura and Pearl are here. And they have someone with them they say you know.” said Luck popping her head into the room. “Oh? Well let’s see who it is then.” he replied putting his pencil down and stretching his arms above his head.
When Sly turned the corner from the hall into the living room the sight of the new visitor caught his attention immediately. White and black fur, shoulder length hair in a ponytail, spots everywhere. He knew this figure alright. “Pips!” he said pleasantly surprised hugging the Dalmatian female standing in front of his sisters. “I’m a little surprised you remember me Sly.” she replied hugging him back. “I didn’t know you that long before we moved from the neighborhood, but I definitely remember you.” he replied. “I’m glad to hear that.” she replied, her tail wagging softly. “Pips is your new letter carrier Sly.” said Sakura from behind Pips. “Really? That’s great. You work for the post office just like your dad did.” said the wolfox now noticing the uniform Pips was wearing. “Yeah. Someday I hope to be a Postmaster like him.” she replied. “Who is this Sly?” asked Luck as she and Maneki walked up. “Maneki, Luck, this is Pips. She used to be our neighbor back where Sakura, Pearl, and I grew up.” he explained, stepping back. “Her real name is Pippy but she hates OW!” he started to whisper before feeling her mail satchel come down on his head hard. “Please just call me Pips.” said the Dalmatian female introducing herself. “My name is Maneki, and this is Luck. We’re Sly’s housemates. It’s very nice to meet you.” replied the calico cat in response. “It’s nice to meet you as well. I will do my best to get your mail to you on time every day.” said Pips smiling. “Speaking of the mail, don’t you have to get back to your deliveries?” asked Pearl suddenly. “Oh. You’re right. Letting myself get caught up with old friends isn’t a good excuse for getting people’s mail to them late is it. I’ll see you all around.” said Pips as she grabbed her bag and turned to leave with a wave. “It’ll be interesting having Pips around again.” said Sakura absently as she watched her leave. “Yeah. Looking forward to fun times.” said Pearl turning to see Maneki and Luck checking on Sly who was still face down with a large lump on his head.

I can't believe I somehow missed this introduction to Pips when I first went looking for her stories! Good to see how she came around.
Speaking as someone who changed my name, I can say that it's serious business so Sly rather earned some kind of retaliation for using Pips' original name without her okay. I will also say that she might have been a little rough, getting the KO with a mailbag. Bad for Sly's head, and also bad for any fragile packages that might be in that bag.
So, overall, icepack for Sly (and I hope you learned not to bring up someone's old name!), and no treat for Pips.
