Comic: The Sea Is Calling (Page 16)

After having heard Xander’s story, the disturbing truths being laid bare for all to see, The Lands Trio felt an even further heightened determination to give their support to the cause. Not that they would have dared to turn their backs on a situation as dire as this, but by now they knew that this was something that could be ignored no longer. Each new day the Cobalt Serpent is fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to live, more lives are being put at risk of a grisly demise. A great, passionate soul Ivanne was in his previous life, his lasting legacy would be forever tarnished by the monster he had no choice but to grotesquely transform into. Heartblight is a disease that cares not who it afflicts, only seeking to spread more death and chaos throughout The Lands. Knowing this, Zenchi looks out to the Cobalt Sea, taking in the peaceful atmosphere before the inevitable. She lets out a preparatory sigh before summoning her greatsword, the Draconic Wing. Continuing to face away from her comrades, she declares once and for all, “Alright. I think that's enough story time. I say we take up our steel and settle this.” With their fighting spirits beginning to brew deep within themselves, the others followed suit. Ithaca held a strong look of conviction in her eyes as she tightened her headband, “Mm. We all know the plan.”
Chieftain Xander stood idly by with his battleaxe resting over his shoulder. It was an enormous hunk of metal that seemed to glow with a deep, vibrant blue. It was his iconic weapon passed down from his father, the Greathorns Of The Sea. “Aye. I promised my wife and lil' girl that I'd make it home safe. This won't be pretty, but it's what needs to be done.” It wouldn’t be the first time he had an encounter with the serpent, but tonight it would be the last, one way or another. While everyone else had their weapons drawn and ready to fight, Roseland still leaned just over the railing, soaking in the starry blue sky and the glorious moon. In a way, it would be the calm before the storm. “Chieftain, give the signal when you're ready.” In this wide-open sea, the Cobalt Serpent could be lurking anywhere, just under the waves. However, whenever it sought out sustenance, it would be drawn to unsuspecting vessels and the sound of clattering bells. As soon as Wyona’s Hand had rung her bells, the Cobalt Serpent’s arrival would be imminent.
