Yeah, I know what it looks like, but the lights are still on and my phone works. It's a thunderstorm brewing up over towards the Atlantic coast.

That has a pretty good updraft.
Glad things are okay where you are too.

Some time ago, when we had a whole bunch of unusual seasonal storms, sub tropical stuff way up north that messed with our trade wind patterns. A rare and HUGE anvil formed as a result. Thing was freaky!

So far, so good. Hurricane Erin's not expected to affect Florida too much, but there's another area that might form up in the Atlantic.

1975 - Gulf of Mexico - we were making our way down to the canal, and there were thunderheads like that all around. When we could, we deliberately sailed through them to wash the ship of salt.

very much so... and we came across an idiot in a huge sports fisherman with his - whatever she was in a bikini - who ran out of fuel. Lucky for him it was a diesel so we could transfer some.
