[L] worldbuilding entry 5: conlangs and english
i've yabbled a few times at this point that ive had many other conlangs, and if you've ever gone scrolling through my ocs on toyhouse you may have seen the names of some of these conlangs as well.
i have chosen to give a rough tl;dr of each of them, roughly in cronological order of their existance. plus you get to see my nasty handwriting and phototaking!
=====
Chi'ithkikie, Previously Known as Thipluch: i've talked more about this in entry 4, but the tl;dr to this tl;dr is that is was an ASMR inspired conlang, but due to my project's goal changing (really me going from not having a goal to having a goal), i had a big falling out with the language. now it just kinda sits around. It is also the source of the original form of the new script for Whogizha.
sound inventory: m, n, p, t, k, pf, f, ts, /ʧ/ ch, /θ/ th, /ʃ/ sh, l, /ʔ/ ', i, u, /ɐ~ä~ɑ/, ai, au, /eu/ iu
Zhgzhgkkzhgttdzdzdzzdzdzdshsht: name literally means "extremely sad language of the distant future". this was a dumb joke language and i dont have an explanation for it. however it was a very very minor inspiration for the next lang. it is one of 2 langs that lacked a script.
sound inventory: m, n, p, b, t, d, k, g, /ʔ/ ', bv, dz, /ð/ th, z, /ʃ/ sh, /ʒ/ zh
Raarukuk, Previously Known as Araarukoku, Rrenodrraar, Drraardeeeni: this one was me trying harder to make a Real Constructed Language™. really it was just Chi'ithkikie but with the voicedness of the consonants inverted and some vowel length weirdness thrown in. It had a unique script.
sound inventory: n, p, b, d, k, /ʔ/ ', bv, dz, v, /ð/ th, z, /ʒ/ zh, /ɹ/ r, /r/ rr, i, u, o, /ə/ e, a
LilimujAnuth: another very odd experimental lang but was again me trying to make a Real Lang™. This is where I tried implementing some phonotactics, but I didn't really stick to them. died pretty quickly, and is the other lang that lacked a script. it also had so many vowels i had to capitalize some of them like it was Klingon or something.
sound inventory: m, n, p, b, d, k, /θ/ th, /ʤ/ j, f, s, /ɹ/ r, l, /i/ ee, /u/ oo, e, o, /ə/ uh, a, ai, ei
Wogozil: This was based on an alien meme speak? strangely this lang survived pretty well, likely due to how simple it is. this lang had its own script that you can see a (very poorly done) example of in entry 1. failed due to being a bit too gimmicky but many parts of it lived on in Whogizha.
sound inventory: n, /n/ gn, /n/ ng, b, p, d, t, g, k, /ʔ/ -, v, s, z, h, /ɹ/ r, l, /l/ le, w, /ʍ/ wh, /i/ ee, /i/ y, u, /u/ oo, /ɪ/ i, o, e, a
Niido'i'an: the weird vowel length stuff is back. It's Wogozil but I tried sticking to a strict CV/VC syllable structure. aaaand i failed. also vowel clusters for days. had its own script that I actually redid at some point. Although the script was garbage, I liked Nii'do'i'an for how it sounded. minus the vowel length stuff i dont know why i brought that back.
sound inventory: n, p, b, d, k, /ʔ/ ', bv, v, dz, /ð/ th, z, /ʒ/ zh, /ɹ/ r, /r/ rr, i, u, o, /e~ə/ e, a
Zhabvok: this one died halfway through being made! I had this idea that I was going to make an 'evolution tree' of my langs, since all of these goobers you're reading about are actually all canon to my oc-verse, they just aren't the universe version of Common. Zhabvok was going to be Raarukuk and Chi'ithkikie sort of hybridizing? I'm not sure, but I gave up very quickly on it. The vowel length stuff infected this lang too.
sound inventory: m, d, k, g, /ʔ/ ', bv, dz, v, /ð/ th, /ʒ/ zh, /ɹ/ r, /r/ rr, i, u, o, e, a
Whogizha: I won't be discussing Whogizha here because I already did that in entry 4.
And now, knowing that the unified, globe-spanning, space conquering civilization all speaks one language in the current day, as do other sapient species and the many Deities, what am i going to do about all of those Ocs of mine with names in either English or these older conlangs?
Well, like I said, all of these are still real, albeit dead, languages. And I've just decided that it is considered somewhere between quirky and trashy to the sapient species (still need to design and name them oops) to name your child in these dead langs.
And what about English? Well, that's a story for another day.
Mainly because you came here for me ramblin’ about conlangs, not ramblin’ about my checks notes edgy overpowered god thomas and friends oc who is the brother of one of the main characters who was presumed murdered but actually they lived bitch oc. And i think doing so would frighten ye.
