Team Lead Interview went well(about as well as it could. The sort of thing where anxiety makes you clam up on the easy questions while you get all the hard ones right). They seemed to warm up to me over the course of the interview at least, and they got a reasonable feel for my style of work while being pleased that I'd be coming in to a role that is "put out fires".

Thanksgiving is a go, thanks to generous donations from readers. Imagine if the world actually functioned correctly and thanksgiving wasn't a sense of "oh good the orphan crunching machine got turned off". While I can see the gears turning in regards to companies realizing they need actual long-term talent, it's awful being in the middle of those gears. I don't really see a good reorganization of the market until at least May, where the sort of "run away brain drain" of the last few week's political fiascos come to a head and companies start having to make actual concessions and treating people like people to make their role work.

It's [10 different kinds of emotions] that you can see HR/Management finally starting to get the idea, but still being bludgeoned over the head in the interim. I dunno maybe being in a place of stable employment would help give perspective that being in the tubes doesn't grant.

Right now I have gas to get to dadface's house(which is fully functional again, water works and everything), and he'll pay for the gas after the fact(there's a metaphor in that). My "birthday/christmas' is him paying the rent, which is all kinds of orphan crunching machine but sure. Just need to keep the phone working(I think it tries to cut off tomorrow?) but beyond that should be stable for a few weeks.
