"Ah, Wyrms... The strange and creepy transformation that Scalebolds can undergo when exposed to controlled religious stigma. This can be from perceiving themselves as gods or even having a distinct sacrificial push to break their limits. Tia likes to call them "Faux Dragons" as they're beings that aspire to be something so much greater that it consumes them, but I digress. The Wyrms we're looking at today are the "Puppet Wyrm" and the "Gullet Wyrm" which are both artificial creations created by fleshwelders.
The Puppet Wyrm is an infiltrator unit created by the Cult of the Gourmand. They usually hijack the nervous system of a target, bury into their skin, and are basically a walking spy for the Cult. The Puppet Wyrm usually is no larger than 2-12 feet tall and their favorite hosts are Scalebolds or even Livestock. Despite being a parasite, they're extremely dangerous in combat as with their tendrils it can hijack the mind of several hosts at once when exposed. Creating large "puppet balls" of moving soldiers that will cover themselves in mucus and protect the parasite. They're also, Fire Resistant which probably came to a shock to many Scalebold militia battling the threat. These same "mucus balls" are used for food preservation as well for the Cult of the Gourmand. Seeing small towns covered in this gunk is always a grizzly sight as the Puppet Wyrms never go alone.
Gullet Wyrms are unfortunately, Ailith's creation, belonging to the Cult of the Devourer, because she knew she could one-up our enemy. As the name implies, they're living Siege Engines and are meant for large scale battles. Although it's not uncommon to see one or two of them in a skirmish. Similar to the Puppet Wyrm, they also have the same mucus-covered tendrils that can hijack the host of someone's mind. Although, there's no use sneaking about so it usually creates "large puppet trees" of mind controlled enemy soldiers. The Gullet Wyrm can also create "Fake" battalions and squads, luring enemies on the field into traps before they're hastily and horribly devoured by the beast. Gullet Wyrms are considered "Kaiju" class monsters, as the largest documented Gullet Wyrm as over 200 ft tall. Bleh... Horrifying. Only problem is that Gullet Wyrms, according to Ailith and even Icarus, are hard to create. I wonder if that's a good thing or not...
Regardless, it is to note that all Wyrms are sentient even if their minds are twisted up from what they once were. Ailith claims that only the most valuable and devoted Scalebolds to the Cult of the Devourer are allowed to become a "Gullet Wyrm" as these creatures also act as the main priest and prophet unit for their cult as well. The ceremonies are shockingly beautiful and kinda creepy at the same time..." ~Thomza Materia
Hee-Ho, howdy everyone! Today I bring you some more stuff of the Cult of the Gourmand and the Cult of the Devourer. Also, a little bit more Scalebold lore... and yeah I'm still feeling sick on my end, but I'm slowly recovering. This isn't the first time Kobolds have undergone such wild transformations and it won't be the last. Want to learn more about some of the fetid transformations that Scalebolds can go through as well as more info on the Cult of the Gourmand? Well- uh, my FA is a bit sloppy when it comes to things being sorted... Heh-
Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales Universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system, and it is usually meant to have a very bright and colorful art style to help balance the tone.
Other Disclaimer: You are allowed to share my artwork as long as I am credited, but do not upload it anywhere else, edit it and or mark it as your own if that wasn't common sense. Reminder, my kobold (Scalebold) stuff has nothing to do with DnD, (Dungeons and Dragons), Pathfinder, that sort of stuff- it is meant to be an entirely alien setting.
