Agreed, also why Roko didn’t notice the fox in front of him? If Roko can see the “aura” of the living (and the recently departed), why didn’t he see the aura right in front of him? This may be related to the “HIM” Darya mentioned, and after hearing about a certain story about what makes cherry blossoms bloom beautifully, that many pink trees is concerning.
IIRC, in Shinto, cherry blossoms represent the cycle of life and death. Traditionally used to refer to the short and colorful lives of samurai but also life and death in a more general sense. Whatever this kami is, it's a very, very powerful one, may be related to life and death, is very likely related to the fire element, and Darya, the most powerful demigod they've yet met, wants nothing to do with him. None of that bodes well.
Dude is sus. Roko is completely freaked out by PMD Nickit. I know there is a kami on this island and some kami - like kitsune - are masters of transformation and disguise. So... little innocent looking fox showing up out of nowhere claiming complete amnesia doesn't bode well whether he's another castaway or he's the kami in disguise. Something stinks on ice on this island and Roko saw it right from the start. For once, Roko-san is among his own kind. Listen to him.
That look from Roko, either it’s someone who Roko has a history with and screwed over (because, it’s Roko), or he thinks he has just found himself a body?

If this is the kami, he's a hell of a lot more powerful than Roko, and may not even be a kitsune. Just pretending to be one. As they say, something is rotten in Denmark.
Roko-sama is a 3-tailed kitsune, a kami of moderate power at best. Whatever is on this island, if his spirit-vision is anything to go on, is the kami version of Gojira.

Whatever is on this island is so powerful it sucked his soul away and maybe his memories with it. Which is why Roko didn't notice him at first.
As someone noted earlier his pupils have no glint, and no color, which is something everyone in this comic has had, even under water. So this guy is certainly unique
