We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming (which is to say that I was originally intending to upload the alternate version without the belly for the final image in the seasonal sequence before I decided to prioritize this instead because I figured that a reference sheet would be of a higher degree of importance to have publicly available on my profile) to supply you with more handsome Scolipede content! I swear that one day the full aforementioned image series will be uploaded to my profile, although at this rate I feel like it may have been like a year and a half since it was commissioned... sigh. Hopefully one day I'll be able to aspire to be properly productive.
As per usual, considering as they're most definitely my most frequently hired artist at this point, this meticulously crafted reference sheet was illustrated by the fantastic and patient
PriestofJashin! Those of you who have been following my profile may recognize this guy from this image (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/55659878/) and it's alt versions that I uploaded a couple of months ago; it was pretty much always planned since I started designing Seph with Jashin for that commission that I would also be paying for a reference sheet for him, and production on this image started soon after that one was completed.
Unfortunately, while I'm ultimately satisfied with the final product, the design process for Seph's reference sheet was long and stressful (even though it was mostly just a case of copying and pasting his appearance from the previous commission), and I'm very appreciative to Jashin for sticking with me despite my indecisiveness... although I also would have understood if they got tired of me, heh. As soon as we got to the colouring phase, he just didn't appear... right to me, and I spent quite a long time stressing over it and suggesting alternate colour palettes that all were inevitably dropped. Sometimes, I would look at him and he would seem too bright, sometimes he would be too dark, and other times I wasn't satisfied with how he appeared on different monitors... eventually I got to the point where I'd been looking at his appearance for so long that I didn't know what he was supposed to look like anymore and I had to distance myself to prevent myself from suffering from too much anxiety. But, I grew to warm up to him again in the end, and now here Seph is in all his smug bug glory!
Originally there was going to be a vore alt for this, but due to financial circumstances that arose at the end of March, unfortunately it's unlikely to happen now. This is, however, a version without the accessories that I'll hopefully post soon after this one.
Name: September
Nickname: "Seph"
Species: Scolipede
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Height: 7'3" (Quadrupedal) - 11'2" (Bipedal)
(Minus the horns for both heights)
Weight: 1960 lbs
Ability: Swarm
Nature: Jolly
Characteristic: Mischievous
Pred/Prey Preference: 80% Pred - 20% Prey
Biography: While the Scolipede's outgoing personality and playful disposition wouldn't make it immediately clear to people who have just met him, September — or as he prefers to be called by his nickname, Seph — didn't have the most pleasant of life conditions growing up. Originally nameless, Seph is one of several offspring conceived by a pair of Scolipede whose union was only formed on the basis of reproduction, and was abandoned by them before he'd even hatched from his egg, living a harsh, solitary existence during his time as a Venipede until he eventually evolved into Whirlpede, with his only purpose in life being to survive through any means necessary. His parents didn't care if he lived or died, and he never met them, adopting a moody and aggressive temperament like most of his species have a tendency to.
That is, until he met August. Having been bullied by his peers throughout his youth due to his misaligned seasonal compass, there was a point where August had run away from home as a Deerling, living by himself until he happened to run into the nameless Seph as a Scolipede. In spite of the fact that a lone, defenseless Deerling would have made an easy meal for the imposing apex predator of the forest, something about August's plight resonated with Seph, and soon enough the two of them bonded over their shared isolation, with Seph protecting August from any dangers until he decided to return to his herd. During this period, the two of them developed a sibling-like relationship, and the experience taught the previously reserved Scolipede compassion, and that there was more to life than simple survival. August was also the one to provide the Megapede Pokemon with his name: September, which he eventually shortened to "Seph".
Since meeting August, Seph has served as a figurative and literal big brother to him; figurative in the respect that they're not actually related by blood, but literal in the fact that he's also quite large! Denouncing his species usual aggressive temperament, the equine centipede is comparatively laid back, gentle, and relaxed, possessing a jovial and non-confrontational personality. He is protective of those smaller than him by nature and, befitting of a big brother figure, is incredibly teasy and has an affinity for bad puns, being somewhat of a prankster.
However, while being ultimately harmless, Seph recognizes that he's still a powerful apex predator in his own right and also has a predatory, dominant side to him, being no stranger to abusing his massive size and weight to assert himself and swallow unsuspecting prey whole without their permission, even though he would never intentionally harm them and always releases them after a period of time. He has a tendency to poke fun at his meals after eating them, teasing them about their predicament and hefting their weight around, showing them off while making lighthearted jokes with the ultimate goal of getting them to like it inside his stomach. His tendency to assert himself is further amplified by his ability to flawlessly walk on his powerful hind legs like a human person, which he abuses to effectively double his height and astonish people, much to the surprise of those who encounter him. This trait was inherited from August; in addition to this, he can also speak fluent English.
When he's not busy teasing someone whose wound up inside his gut (or even sometimes while there is someone in there), Seph has a vested interest in the study of ancient civilizations and archeology, and is particularly interested in the state of Pokemon and human relations. He typically defaults to being a predator, but in reality this is only because of his size and the inability for most Pokemon to swallow him alive comfortably. Deep down, he possesses a fantasy of being on the opposing side of the experience, being subjected to his own witty humour and shown off... but will that ever happen?

he is a very cool and cute septembean
Technically he's already appeared in an image as prey, actually! (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54742350/) But that one took me by surprise and I've still been looking to have him swallowed down by a more befitting, same sized pred, heh. I'm sure several legendaries are big enough to put him in his place!
That picture was quite the surprise for me. I would not have guessed a Scolipede prey if it was not said so.I do have a lugia under my wings who is happy to give large beings new lodgings if they ask nicely!
As it so happens, Lugia was pretty high up on my list of predators that could potentially stomach Seph with no issue! I think they're a bit overrated, but they were still one of the first to come to mind because Lugia's pretty bird-like and birds like to eat bugs. So they would make for a very kosher devourer~
I do like some variety of ideas. What do you have in mind for legendaries who can stomach a large horse bug? Lugias are one of my favs, but maybe I can come to see other legendaries in a good light.
There's also the entire creation trio + Arceus, all three members of the weather trio, Solgaleo, Zacian and Zamazenta... frankly, though, it wouldn't have to be a legendary. Like, the list of potential Pokemon that could swallow down Seph at a similar size is so small that any quadrupedal Pokemon that's 7 feet tall, or any bipedal Pokemon that's 11 feet tall, could probably qualify (well, provided they work for vore of course, obviously Celesteela is a bit of a strange option). Heck, Seph is intentionally smaller than a regular Scolipede, so another Scoli could probably work.
Laser pointers are probably still a huge distraction
