Yet another year has passed me by, though this time it certainly felt a bit slower. Throughout the latter half of last year and a lot of this year I felt like I was going through something of a rough patch. Hobbies dried up and died, and I reverted into a mix of working, sitting around playing games, and feeling generally bad at times. While I don't know if I feel perfect still, I feel I'm finally getting a lot better. I've finally been able to keep myself steadily working, even on days where I don't feel the drive to push forward, and I've at last begun to pick up hobbies again, as should be evidenced by my hopefully alright Esperanto writing. My friend Marky (postgarf on Cohost) helped me proof-read this piece and make sure it's not all incoherent gibberish, which I'm super thankful for. This was written with heavy usage of a dictionary and conjugation guide, and I still imagine that it can't be perfect, but I tried; and that's what matters. I can fail, I can not succeed, but there's little more than light embarrassment in screwing a passion up, we can only thank those that correct us, or read those lessons we learn from it, pick up the pieces, and move forward, and I think I'm finally managing to do that with a lot of things. This piece took me a lot of work, and I think it represents, along with my last piece, a large jump in the quality of my work.

I finally feel like I'm managing a breakthrough, my poses are becoming something more interesting, my angles are looking less like ass, and my shading is actually workable, it's something I can fit into the backgrounds, which themselves have made an improvement. A word to fellow artists, while it's good to give detail in your lines, you can show so much more and in such an effective, efficient, and beautiful way by relying on your coloring and lighting work more. Look at artists you enjoy, observe their work deeper, pick it apart; don't copy anyone of course but noodle out how others apply their technical knowledge on the canvas. It does nothing but good, and all of us can continue to improve and learn on our artistic journeys doing it. I have some exciting things planned for myself for the rest of this year, and while they may not all apply to this page and its work, my birthday ref sheets were never really made purely for my sites were they? I view this almost as a somewhat public meditation of the year, it's a year in review for my art, but also a year in view for myself, a moment to be real and to show myself a little to those that enjoy my work and are curious enough to read.

So in short, I still have a good chunk of my troubles from the previous year, but there's a hell of a lot of bright spots in that. My friends, who mean the world to me, my family, who I'd do anything for, those that push me on and encourage my work, who I am unendingly appreciative of, and who help push me on, and for being able to keep plodding forward doing art. There's nothing I'd rather be doing, seriously, it's what I'm most passionate about. Sure, I'd like to produce more SFW stuff here and there, and I'm trying to slip more esoteric imagery back into my work Like in this post here, which I feel also very pleased with, especially as it lets me flex my muscles a little and finally show off some more symbology. -- One of my favorite things in art and indeed to show in my work is this kind of imagery, and so to be slipping it back into things again is very exciting. Furthermore, beyond all of these wonderful things, I'm finally investing in my other hobbies again and actually engaging in them, making music, writing, even doing 3D renders and such! So, all in all, issues or not, I'm really happy, and I'm really excited to plod further and further. Thank you all for another wonderful year, and I hope that we can keep going onward into 2024 with more wacky crazy stuff.
