Here's chapter 9 of my Watership Down fanfic.
Vernal explains himself, and Dandelion tells a story. I'm quite proud of this chapter, especially the way I managed to tie it into... well, you'll see. (And yes, the name that's used for two characters is indeed supposed to be.)

There's a reason behind the strangeness that is Vernal, yes... but that will have to wait until the end of the story. =:P
The Anisthimi thing is explained in ch. 10, which I think you've already read, but I won't explain it here in case other people read this before looking at ch. 10.
It was Tulip's story that I really felt happy with in this chapter. And I was particularly pleased to be able to tie in the "Rainbow Bridge" belief about pets in our own world to the handily-named Prince Rainbow; it just seemed to work. =:)
