When one thinks of healing, one might attribute it to holy light and cleansing through the use of alteration magic, such as it is with your typical clerics and paladins. When one also thinks of healing, one wouldn't attribute it to rocks or dirt, but Strax is always happy to wash away skepticism with his unique gift of earth mending, hence his family name.

The Earthmender family has always had a unique affiliation with the spirits of the earth in particular, perhaps more so than any other family name of the Darkfell clan. Highly attuned to the earth, the Earthmenders can draw out the chi, or 'life energy' of the stones around them, using it to mend the wounds of their allies and to heal scarred and bleeding tissue. While this healing is truly remarkable and even a beautiful sight to behold, Strax can never take more than what's available or what he needs- lest he drain the earthen spirits around him and even anger the spirits in turn.

Strax is a good friend of Driknar Earthmaw, and the two often meditate together in silence. The Earthmaws and Earthmenders have always been loyal and helpful members of the Darkfell clan, both representing the pure balance of the spiritual world around them.
