Hello everyone, Hensley here once again. This time around? It's another data log, but something's a bit different. Mostly because this one is styled like a reference sheet. All talking about the Floramal family. Despite yes, some of them being lizards, however they're all capable of having mammary glands. This is more or less a reference sheet to explain the setting and lore of the world a bit more. All the beings are featureless to drive the point across of what patterns they may have upon their skin. All of these alien species will be put into of course, a better light once they have more individual logs about them. However, this is just a point of reference like any other sheet that I've done. I think I might do some more reference sheets like this...
This is a message right here for mostly people on my FA. I don't really post a lot of my pure scrapwork and concept art as well as data logs as I usually post them on my DA. Eventually, I'm going to make something special for it and be able to properly put it into an archive or... Easy access to all the data logs where people can look for what they want about the setting I've created on Skin to Scales.
I also got a few complaints that the dialogue is too small to read on some of my images and I'll be posting the descriptions from now on:
Salutations to whomever may be reading this log! I am tasked with the classification of some of the species that inhabit our known universe. Today we're going to be discussing the "Floramal" family. This consists of shy and quirky Mandrakes, the bashful Fruit Kobolds and the dreaded Tulivore... At a glance you might not even think these are all related. However, they all share many traits in common such as their rapid regeneration and the only species outside of dragons that are both half plant and animal!
Mandrakes were once pretty common in the universe and are one of the first space faring races in the known stars. However, they lack combat capability and were mostly wiped out by the Plantaran Republic and other space faring races. They are now far and in between while the Tulivore is an incredibly rare space faring race that was known for their distinct brutality. That they were treated as practical demigods as none was ever known to fall in combat... and if they were? It was quickly scrubbed so that no one may gaze upon the record.
In the middle we have the Fruit Kobold, using a "Copper" as an example. Fruit Kobolds were created in a laboratory and were originally called the "PR-WX project" before getting two more names as one was from the Scalebolds which was "Faux Lizardmen" and finally Captain PiK naming them "Fruit Kobolds" once discovered after a bedtime tale his mother used to tell him. Fruit Kobolds are incredibly adaptive to their environment and are known for their rapid evolution. This is why there are Aquatic, Bulky, Tropical, Caustic, Aloe, and many more variants that are yet to be discovered...
Another thing that ties these species together is that they can generate both a source of oxygen and can create food through sunlight from simply absorbing it through their skin... Oh! I ran out of time! Until next time everybody
~Aellea, Goddess of Chaos
...and this now concludes the four pieces of artwork I'd be posting today. Have a good one everyone!
Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system. There are also many satirical tones as well...
Other Disclaimer: You are allowed to share my artwork as long as I am credited, but do not upload it anywhere else, edit it and or mark it as your own if that wasn't common sense.
TRIVIA: Mandrakes were inspired by Pikmin... If it wasn't painfully obvious with how they look in design, but the lore and the data behind them couldn't be more far apart
TRIVIA: Tulivore's were the first original species of Skin to Scales and used to be present in my AU along with the Mimins.
TRIVIA: Fruities used to have only one sub-species before it was massively changed
TRIVIA: Tulivore's name comes from Tulip and Carnivore
...Also, the characters are featureless so I doubt this goes under "mature" as they have nothing to show, and it is simply to show off their patterns and what it can look like. That and they're aliens.
