CCCX: The Waiting Games

This is the first silent page since page CXCIV. I always look for chances to have a page with no dialogue, to tell the story purely through the visuals and remind myself to push my use of the medium. In a chapter so heavy with expository conversations, I was very glad to find this opportunity.

Coming up with things for Cass to climb on to show off her agility was surprisingly hard. I wanted her perched in nearly impossible places, but also tried to keep in mind the realism of the situation. If she put too much of her weight on certain pipes or ductwork, it would all come crashing down. Boxes felt too mundane. Here, she's distributing her weight between a thin electric water heater box and the round water softener.
