In the real orld, the DLV (Deutscher Luftsport Verband) as disbanded in 1937, but in the Air Pirates reality, they kept it going as the official club for the Schneider attempts.

Wasn't the DLV the fig leaf used to cover the training of Luftwaffe pilots?

Yes, it was, and in the case of the Schneiders, there was a fair bit of unofficial military involvement on all sides of hat was officially a civilian event.

I've been meaning to say that I've enjoyed this highly! Terry and the Pirates was a personal favorite of mine. My uncle had whole runs of T&P and Dick Tracy from the 50s which I got to read many times, but no idea what happened to them over time. This should be re-printed into a book (e or paper)

Also may I add, Ilsa is quite stunning too.
