Shading Practice

Following Tato's tutorial on shading, I decided to try and practice it with one of my older pics.
GIMP doesn't feature the advanced shading tools of Clip Studio Paint, but does have plenty of tricks that may be able to produce similar results. First, I used the Burn tool on Culania and the gears to create shadows on the parts that are away from the light. However, I feel it may have been a bit to subtle on Culania to notice.
For the room, I used a Lighting Effect filter with directional lighting. I normally didn't use this since it looked like the light was just above the characters, but since my backgrounds are so stale, I think I'm gonna use it more often.
Got any tips on how to shade better? Feel free to tell me.
