And the switch is made. Genevieve steps off the back of the bus as Brianna boards in the front, and the timeline has changed. Now while Brianna is unaware of what events were to transpire, Gen has been briefed on the purpose of the swap and how events have been switched around to fit her appearance in the story (at least for now). Meanwhile Brianna is about to get more comfortable--or at least as much as one can expect in a city bus seat--as Tali turns up the heat and blowers to dry off the hapless kitty..
Technical:
It turns out this sequence of pages is the most visually complicated of this entire comic entitled "What, me Furry?. On further reflection, I'm still not sure how I could have handled it any other way, but there are a plethora of lighting effects and other details taken from various reference pics that the average viewer won't notice (well, they may notice Brianna's wet button-down shirt). Then again if you look at the earliest pages of this comic (which pre-date FurAffinity itself) all you can see is that I've gotten a lot better at drawing this stuff since then. Still have a ways to go--people half my age blow my skillset into the weeds, so stuff that should be dashed together and posted get a lot more research and tutorial mining, greatly stretching out the time needed to produce these. On the other hand, at least I'll talk about stuff I learned while doing these pics.
For instance, the rain effects. With this page I've started using rain effects brushes made for Clip Studio Paint. Up to this page, all those raindrops were dashed out manually one by one. As you might guess this took lots of time. Thinking someone had to have done a rain brush after I discovered how to use a hair highlight brush (see the description of Roxy's Rest), I dropped back into Clip Studio's asset browser and sure enough, someone had compiled some rain brushes for CSP. After downloading and moving them into my 'Decoration' tool group I started experimenting with them. You can see them as the long straight streaks of rain in the first panels. I learned something else about this tool that I'll save for the next page.
