"What, me Furry?" continues with my entry into VCL. I started off my gallery there with this image, showing all my characters together in glorious color. If you haven't looked through the character intros way back at the beginning of my gallery here, their names are:
Tatiana (in the leather jacket)
Sherryl (dressed in blue)
Roland (crouching)
Bastien (in the grey hoodie)
Tanya (in the red shirt)
Nei'chelle (the nekkid skunk)
Cynthia (in the pink sweater)
Tina (purple shirt)
Todd (standing behind Tina)
The characters are digitally colored scans superimposed atop a Prismacolor colored backdrop. The perspective is a little tortured (I think--I had to re-draw Tanya a couple of times for the near overhead view), and I actually mispelled "Welcome"--but Roland is standing on top of it, effectivley hiding the typo.
The comic, as it currently stands, treats the characters as 'residents' in a community comprised of furry art galleries and the characters that appear within them. Initially this was specifically VCL, but the concept was expanded to online furry galleries in general. What this means is that characters of other artists are assumed to inhabit the same environment, and thus can appear in my comic, either directly interacting with my characters or passing through the background like extras on a movie shoot.
Since at the time I didn't draw unsolicited art of other folks' characters without a direct invite, evidence of other inhabitants is only hinted at so far, although there is a standing invitation to other artists of similar (okay, in the general ballpark) caliber to offer their characters to appear in this comic, either for short one-shot cameos or recurring interactions with my cast. If anyone here at FA is interested, you can pass me a note, but I have to mention that I still have some catching-up to do before I can act upon any new entries.
