CCLXXXII: Beneath Them’s What Rocks

My education in writing fiction is based in scripts for movies and TV, where it’s rare to hear someone’s thoughts. And when we do, it can come across as cheesy. That’s why I avoid thought bubbles unless I absolutely can’t get ideas across any other way.
These are actually the first thought bubbles in UTC. The only other time we got “into someone’s head,” I used square narration boxes. Here, I was so uncomfortable about introducing thought bubbles into the comic that I decided not to use the traditional puffy cloud design and, instead, experimented with a style closer to normal balloons.
