CCLXXXI: Though Tops

The exact trajectory Cass and Noah’s date was pretty much set from the moment I started writing this chapter, but the Flint-Mike B-plot was mostly improvised. This page was plotted to be a perfunctory scene establishing why Flint is going outside to investigate. After writing Cass’ speech to Noah on the previous page, I noticed a chance to explore a parallel relationship between Flint and Mike that could stand in contrast, taking further advantage of Mike’s rare appearance in the story.
I was really tempted to draw a miniature version of this page into Mike’s comic for a recursive joke, but it felt too distracting, and the joke isn’t exactly original. I made it into a Superman comic to fit with Mike’s dialogue.
