GEEZE! Nasty and effective way to show what happens when you disable the 'stomach don't grow ears' trait and what can go wrong! (Checks. Oh. OH! He KNEW the design was a buggy mess and DIDN'T want to use it yet.)
But what's his beef with some Flint? Then again, the kid is likely just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It's kinda surprising how nasty the heroes were to this guy. Yes he's basically a vigilante, but he was offering legitimate help to Cass.
So the rest of the customers left because they didn't like sharing the room with some 'furries'?

Ehh, he was only kinda offering to help Cass, and he bundled a veiled threat right in with that offer. And anyway, Cass has principles.
Oh, and the customers were totally most freaked out by the four-armed dude. They're probably used to animal people running around their area by now.

It's a bittersweet thing being a storyteller and gearing up for a big reveal, and seeing readers exactly guessing what I'm about to drop. Like I want everybody to be completely surprised, but then again, it's satisfying for readers who guessed correctly, and it's a sign that the story is written well enough that people are able to follow what's going on.
