I present the completed Dr. Darius Comic. Script by David Schmoker. Pencils, inks. lettering. and colors by Scott Ruggels. The request was to create a vintage comic book look. The Pencils and inks were done on comic book boards I had left over from the 1980's (back before I went into video games and worked in comics and TTRPG Illustration). Pencils and inks were done traditionally. However Letteri9ng and colors were done digitally, because I could nit fine my Ames Lettering guide, and the actual traditional colors were done in two stages by hand. For the sake of time and cleanliness, I just used the official DC Comic pallette for coloring. Lettering waws Comic Craft's "Wild Words". Thuis was a commission, but I won't offer a comic commission again, as This takes too much effort, and my stamina has vanished with the passing years. S C O T T / 2 0 2 1

My favorite time periods are the 30's and 40's. I found a college sketchbook from around 40 years ago, I slapped that on the scanner to get the yellowed page. the mis-registration of the color pass was a "nudge" in Photoshop. But the other slight imperfection were because the pencils and inks (available in my Scraps folder) were done by hand on old comic book boards, using HB graphite for the pencilling, and Higgins Black with Zebra nibs for the inks. Color and color separations and half toning were done digitally, as was the lettering.
