*The franchise does indeed steal its names from Tolkein. "Elfangor" comes from the Fangor river. "Alloran" comes from Gandalf's elvish name. "Yeerk" comes from the Sindarin word for Orc, "yrch." I asked Applegate on twitter if "Berenson" was a reference to Beren and Luthien, but never got word back. (Either way, I made Cassie's last name "Luthier" in the fanfic I'm writing, just to hammer that point home.)
*The final quote is a piece of a song from Lerner and Loewe's "Camelot." Cette. I mean, I sing "C'est Moi" in the shower to this day.
