also an interesting experiment: taking a couple dozen of your favorite paintings and then throwing it into kuler.adobe.com to see what kind of color palettes come out. Turns out its almost always the same 3-4 schemes (at least, for me); just different ratios of colors.
I didn't know you could import an image to get a palette out of it! I should spend more time on there. The whole thing is one huge trip for an ADD colour fan.
As I'm learning the importance of colours I end up using less of 'em, so it's no surprise to me that your schemes repeat. Cool kids don't need rainbows.
Good call on the clothes, by the way. ;)
It was also looking at a painting (i think it was kung fu panda......? it was an art book for a 3d animated film, I just can't remember which) where their "color chip" was pretty much three rows of 10 values/saturations, that I realized 5 wasn't enough :C
I think kuler is better for graphic designers and people who make websites. But it's still fun and occasionally educational.
