Mission: 9
Objective: Capture the fox in the forest
Nishi's Note: The Forked Tree
Oxnard falls from the forked tree and winds up unconscious, and Faux's possessive spirit travels from Oxnard to Cooni.

In The Q&A, Oxnard is set free from Faux's possessive spirit. At this same tree, in AMILF, the fairy that's set free has Oxnard's whiskers and smile.
My other series, Circles, also makes a representational reference to this place. (:

Yikles! Cooni actually gets Fuxie to open up mere moments before finding himself being taken over by the restless spirt of Faux Farewell!
The fact that this is all happening in such an ominous place really adds to the effect of this scene. I think I remember seeing this tree in "The Circle Saga," but I'd have to go back and find it again to be sure of exactly where. As for the moment in AMILF, I'm quite fond of how Shadow Nishidor showed up here just like Faux's spirit decided to create a sort of "Dark Cooni." A most tainted landmark indeed this forked tree is...
As it stands, I'd say it's anyone's guess how it could go from here. I have a few hypotheses myself, but I'd rather keep them to myself until you reveal the truth behind the matter. :)

Now that you point it out, I realize it's pretty unfortunate that right as Cooni finds out how Fuxie really feels about her teammates, he loses control of himself. As for it's appearance in Zelda, I really liked it, but I don't there there was any real meaning to the event - it was just a tree he passed by and lost his shadow near. Because of that, I wanted to give it some history, so that it actually makes sense why people find themselves split apart when they reach this point.
As for Circles, I don't think I drew any forked trees in there, though there are some sharp foresty places. The actual forked tree might be represented by another object completely. (:
