Oh, believe me, Abbot & Costello's comedy was true comedy, not this mess that tries to pass itself off as comedy these days. Lou was one of the best at self-deprecating humor. One of my most favorites of that went something like this:
Bud: "Have you ever looked at yourself in a mirror?"
Lou: "Why would I want to hurt my own feelings?"
Bud: "Have you ever looked at yourself in a mirror?"
Lou: "Why would I want to hurt my own feelings?"
It's a long story but, the condensed version is, Michael is a human from the 21st Century, is put into stasis due to an incurable disease, awakens 20K years later in a world of anthro animals. He meets Amanda and, due to the time he grew up, can't accept her protestations of love for him for over 6 months. He finally realizes that you can't control who you love and accepts her love.
