I realize it's likely just a coincidence, but I find it interesting that in both instances we have a mammal patient being tended to by an avian physician. Well, I suppose Ethan isn't exactly a physician per se, but close enough. It still makes for a very interesting parallel.
Captain Weathers got extremely lucky. Getting hit with an arrow can be very serious indeed, and I guess it's a testament to the quality of his armor, and probably a fair bit of good luck, that he got off so lightly. Shame he won't listen to his doctor if she tells him he needs to take it easy, but I don't think we'd expect any different from someone as determined, and stubborn, as him.
The panel of Diana clutching her pendant is a very poignant one, and you can really feel how she misses her home and isn't terribly happy at being trapped in an unfamiliar world with a bunch of strangers. However close they may become later, you really do have to feel for her in the beginning.

I hadn't noticed that, but it's true! Though in cases when I don't have a specific character in mind I always let my artists go nuts with whatever they want. In this case, a swan. I do like the design though. :) Ethan may not be a doctor, but he knows how to treat some wounds for sure.
I'm guessing the armor slowed it down enough it didn't penetrate his body, but he didn't have much margin for safety! Captain Weathers best and worst quality is he's determined and focused to do what he has to do, though it's not as simple as it may appear.
It definitely is at the core of how the series started, because I needed to have a really interesting hook, and the magically disappeared city and the lost girl seemed like a compelling way to do that. :)
