In a small city marketplace in a city near the Winding Forest, Ethan stands beside the cart while Rhodes attempts to move their wares before the market closes.

Nifty. As I'm sure you've guessed, I've always had quite a fondness for stories set in or at least originating in market towns like this, since they provide endless possibilities for meetings between people of differing backgrounds and cultures. Which, I suppose, is why I find Ethan and Rhodes so interesting, as they seem like just the sorts of characters that would fit very neatly into my own little world. It's a pity they can't go to Oseille, as I think they'd probably enjoy it. Provided they didn't find the whole place much too provincial.
Of course, the second panel here is particularly interesting for the way it sets up the first meeting between our intrepid merchant adventurers and their soon-to-be new friend Diana. First meetings between characters can be among the most fun to read, and to write, because they lead to so many different things and they open up so many opportunities for character and story development. Of course, we know that they become fast friends, but it's still fascinating to see how they got there.
The art on this is just gorgeous.
SabretoothedErmine has long been one of my favorite artists and she has done an amazing job with this page and with bringing your characters to life!

They're excellent settings for a number of story possibilities. A lot of things go on in towns like this whether they're big or small. When crafting this I knew I needed a reason for the characters to travel, and being merchants seemed like an excellent one. This also provided a great way for Diana to enter the story, and since that is when everything changes for them, that's where the story begins. It would seem you've forgotten that Lauren/Diana/Ciara's world is the same, since I'd decided before we planned to work together that Lauren and Diana's world were going to share a universe, so by the virtue of the fact that Lauren and Diana exist in the same world, so does Ciara. :) So if you have a good reason to use them, Diana and co are also available for relevant plots.
I love the way that Ethan can see her but Rhodes is distracted at the moment attempting to make a sale. While their first meeting is not the smoothest I always liked how this story began.
Oh yes, I've loved Ermine's work since I found her, though even though she was not able to continue the comic I love the pages I did get from her since they express so much with what's provided. :)

Oh, well I think I phrased that a bit clumsily. I didn't mean that I thought they couldn't go at all, just that it's not something that seems to be in the plans for them at present, since I've been kind of assuming that the whole ordeal with Diana's trinket is going to take priority for them for a while. That and I wasn't sure if you'd thought about how far away they are, in this scene, from Viridis as well. But it would be fun to have them visit Oseille sometime, if we ever came up with a reason for them to do so.
Well, Diana's first book is set between the war and the occupation (which I still need to look at your timeline and get ours integrated so we have a common framework). So it's before Lauren and Ciara met, but that doesn't mean they can't end up there in storylines set afterwards or before, but it all depends on the timeframe. I've been loosely guesstimating that Diana's part of the world is more or less the far east, Lauren's the west, and Viridis somewhere in the middle. Odds are they could arrive by ship, here they're on the mainland of Akaeria.
Also, one thing to keep in mind, the entire group doesn't need to be present for such things, like when Lauren visits Akaeria herself.

Some of them are. A few of these had originally been planned to be books, but when it looked like I wasn't going to be able to write (due to depression/anxiety) I sought another way to tell my stories. While I've once again gone back to writing, the comics still are part of the lore and need to be completed, plus I'm hoping the comics will help entice readers and fans and be a good way to integrate new fans into our work. :)
I'm glad you like so far, I've got the first 12 of this comic stockpiled and more on the way at last. ;) Now that the post apocalyptic comic is more or less 'completed', this one and Iridescence will be continuing.

No problem, at the time it seemed to make sense to me so I kept doing it that way. Since unlike long running web comics I didn't plan for any of them to perhaps be all that long running, I thought a number convention like that would make more sense if I did a bunch of shorter ones or whatever ended up happening. :)
