Tsk. Ethan, you sneak! It's lucky for him that Rhodes was so distracted with trying to make a sale and then plot their new course, because, from the look of things Ethan can't lie for beans. It is awfully kind of him to help the lady out, though, especially considering that, at this point, he knows nothing about her. Perhaps not the smartest thing he could have done, even if we know it works out okay, but I admire his heart.
Oh yeah, Ethan's deception skill in most cases is terrible. He tends to wear the truth on his face, though he can keep a secret when its really important.
Ethan is a big softie. He sees a woman clearly hiding from someone who just happened to lock eyes with him. Odds are things may not have worked out the same if she'd been spotted by Rhodes first but Ethan is a romantic and tends to want to see the positive in most people. He also probably imagines that even if she does turn out to be something dangerous he'd rather act first and deal with it later than do nothing and possibly regret it.
