It's story time...and you get to help write it!
Backstory: Raskus (left) and Decimus (right) are two Turian males who met on a transport shuttle, discovering they were both on the way to work for the same client on a special secret project. Raskus is skilled with machines and robots, able to program and manufacture almost anything he puts his mind to. Decimus is a self-proclaimed knight, having inherited the title after aiding a fellow noble, and is skilled in combat, tactical strategy, and security defense systems. They have grown closer over the weeks and months, but haven't shared their true feelings to each other yet.

Here's an idea. Raskus is working on the secret project late one night getting closer to having the strange machine operational. Decimus having taken a shining to Raskus over their time spent working together. approaches him with a bottle of Turian brandy and tries to get him to loosen up. Initially hesitant to stop working on the project Raskus lightens up when he sees who it is with the gift. Once they both get a bit tipsy on the couch together one of them could let slip their feelings towards the other as they go in for a kiss/cuddle closer on the couch.
Not sure if that's what you're looking for in particular but gave it a shot. Plus it always opens up other drunken shenanigans or like the machine malfunctioning and causing some growth if you wanted that in the story at a later point.

Maybe, since their skills are so varied, Decimus had to spend his time elsewhere during the project but their hours are carried so when he has time off he goes down to talk to Raskus about his work. On the day in question Raskus is trying to install something touchy into the device and even though he does everything right something goes wrong and it starts to smoke as Raskus goes to solder it in place so he assumes it's just solder smoke.
Suspecting foul play, his knight instincts kick in and Decimus grabs him and pulls him away before it explodes. They feel that everything is okay but something in the part gets on them in a small, imperceptible dose (to be explored later with gradual growy goodness). Raskus, after calming down from the event hugs Decimus as he has wanted to for a while and thanks him for rescuing him. "Today you were my knight" he says. Decimus smiles and can sense Raskus' feelings "I can be your knight forever" he could say before leaning in to kiss him to show him the feelings are returned.

So how about Decimus and Raskus are alone and in transport for their next mission when their small vessel experiences a malfunction and has to land on the closest planet. The planet they land on is inhabited but they're unfamiliar with anything about it. Plus they landed a fair distance away from civilization. So, their first task is figuring out the problem with the vessel and figuring out how to fix it/get the parts they need.
