This wasn't weird, was it? No...we've been doing this for awhile. We're just friends. That's it; just good friends. We both got assigned here. We've been here for months, working together, hanging out together. Nothing weird about it. Smiling, laughing, the way his eyes light up when we see eachother- wait, no! Just good friends! Just...ugh...
Decimus rubbed his temple as he stood in front of the door with his free hand, overcome with the guilt that weighed a lot more than just the two drinks he carried. The turian was never taught this kind of stuff; they just expect you to know how to be charismatic in your position. Well, forcefully charismatic, due to his line of security. I looked up at the light above the door, sighing as he attempted to seek the answers inside its fluorescent glow. He squinted, swearing he saw the bulb shrug in disinterest. With a look back down the corridor behind him, he piled his anxiety off into the corner of the hall and turned - brushing the wrinkles off his blue uniform - and opening the large research doors with a solid thunk.
The air hummed with the expensive machinery, calculating this and outputting that, all of which were far beyond his comprehension...or at least his pay grade. It was quiet otherwise, everyone else in the lab having gone home for the evening save for one in the corner, prodding away at a keyboard. Decimus approached quietly, the other Turian in the room much too occupied in his work to take notice at the moment, the flicker of the screen illuminating his handsome features and deep golden eyes. Decimus leaned back against the terminal besides the hard worker, resting his rear against the table top, not wanting to break his concentration. After a few more clicks and mumbles the typing ceased, and Decimus' eyes met the other's as he looked up from his work, sharing a warm smile. "Hey there, Raskus. Your work coming along alright?"
Raskus met his eyes and returned the smile, leaning up and stretching his arms behind his head, a large yawn accompanying the release of the stiff nerves. "I've been...*yaaawn*...getting so much done today I didn't want to leave. Maybe give myself the chance to have a free day later."
"You know we're paid on hours not projects, right?" Decimus stated with a raised brow. "You should take it slower, make certain to show your time is worthwhile."
"Yeah, maybe for you on your shifts. I have more a 'salary' type deal; each project summary is returned with a paycheck." His eyes shifted towards his friend's hand. "What are those for?"
"Hm? Oh! They're for-heh, us." He cursed himself, feeling the warmth suddenly attacking his face. "I thought you'd enjoy it...it's super strong stuff, but it's really good. I wanted to share it cause I like you-as a good close friend-a friend I like-a friend!"
Raskus returned a brow raise as he watched his strong minded companion turn into a bubbling mess, returning with a small snort of amusement and leaning back next to him, taking one of the bottles from his grip and crossing his arms, sharing a comforting smile. "That is sweet of you, dude. Thank you."
Decimus' mouth curled into a shy smile, looking down at his feet as he curled his toes anxiously. "Don't worry about it. You're worth it." They twisted the caps off together and with a clink of the bottles making contact in cheers, took a swig.

"...and that's when I told him, 'Go jump in the reactor!"
The two roared in distorted laughter, the voices bouncing about the metallic lab. Both of their sides and faces hurt from the laughter and joy from the last couple of hours, realizing shortly into their time together that the bottles were much more potent then they had let on at the shop, but nevertheless continuing their consumption until the two were no more than a couple of giddy children. Raskus sloshed ungracefully against the heavy machine he was previously working on, giving a few small hiccups as he attempted to catch his breath, Decimus leaning against the view-port window to steady himself as well. He looked back up at Raskus with his warm red cheeks, letting a few more chortles escape his chest. Raskus met his eyes, and gave another soft hiccup, and then sighed, leaning his elbow up against the now humming machine.
"You know what, Deci?" Raskus said, lazily pointing the bottle at charming Turian," ...I think-and this isn't the tipsy talking-I think I like you as a good friend...like, besties."
Decimus returned with another chuckle, standing upright a bit as we wobbled to maintain vertical posture, holding his hip as an anchor. "Is that so? Well I like you like...really good besties, you know? Like...yeah, you know?"
"Do you mean, like...like like, like?" Raskus gave a smirking squint, as if he could focus better on what Decimus was trying to say. The machine buzzed louder besides him, not aiding in his concentration.
"Yeah, like...Raskus, I think l-"
A surge broke his sentence as a magnificent trail of electric sparks lept from the machine behind Raskus, stabbing into his back and coiling around his torso, a loud yelp of pain and surprise making Raksus spring away from the machine, clashing into Decimus as they crashed to the floor, bottles flying off to the corners and their bodies sprawled out against the cold lab floor, the machine's roar diminishing after having pounced its victim.
After a few moments, Decimus groaned, lifting himself up a bit, making sure Raskus didn't topple off him. Immediately concerned for his comrade, he raced his eyes over the body for vital signs, looking for any injuries on his friend. After a moment of panic the shocked Turian's eyes fluttered a bit, and he gave a small cough, a sheepish grin over his face as he met eyes with his beholder. "Oh, hey there. How did we get down here?"
Decimus let out a relieved chuckle and sigh, leaning the both of them back up against the wall, still holding onto his arm tightly. "I think that machine you were working on just tried to kill you."
"Oh really? Nah, was nothing more than a small static shock. I've taken worse. It's in the profession!" He gave a weak laugh, his senses returning to him. "Ow...but my head does hurt. Is that the drinks' doing?"
Decimus' grip loosened, his hand sliding down the arm. "Yeah, I'd say it probably was." He retracted his arm out of modesty, but was halted as his hand was trapped, being held tightly by Raskus' fingers wrapping around his.
"You know, you never finished your, 'like like' sentence..." Raskus' head rolled toward him, smirking playfully as he kept a tight grip, rubbing his thumb over the other Turian's digits. "...why don't you tell me now?"
Decimus' face become washed in a sea of red, but he closed his hands tight around Raskus', finding his touch to be a rock to steady himself on. He gulped, and looked up into those deep ember eyes, smiling as he found the words easily in the front of his mind. "I think I love you."
Raskus' eyes sparkled a bit from the words, and he rolled his hip over to press his body against Decimus, moving the held hands to their lap and the other draping across the back of his shoulders. Raskus moved his face close to Decimus' letting out a slow breath of warm air across his lips, and after a few moments, gently rested his forehead on the other's. "That's good to hear. Cause I love you too."
With a tilt of his chin their lips met, and after no more than a moment they got lost in the other, the lab machines' hums mimicking the spark between them.

Decimus and Raskus go out on a date. They get some food then Decimus suggest having fun at a combat simulator where he plans to show of his prowess but Raskus has some tricks up his sleeve too. Could either end the next part there or with one of them dropping the other off at their home.
Really cute story and really cute those two! I'm sure you'll create something that's very fitting - oh my goodness, please don't add any krogans this would be horrible...maybe they'll have a roll in the hay on that floor but I estimate them to be more romantic, like...
"cut your damn shift right now and come with to my room, Raskus..."
