And when one of these hard to grasp constructs of seemingly unimaginable - though far more often simply unknown - concepts chose to manifest, the unfortunate bystander may find themselves caught in something they can scarcely understand and with little knowledge or power to free themselves again.
As such, with the knowledge of how to escape the unknown’s grasp may be out of reach - in turn very often compounding the situation beyond what is necessarily necessary - the lack of understanding can easily translate into a lack of perception and clarity.
And even if the mind in question indeed held the potential for countering or otherwise manipulating the ideas at hand, one must also be able to perceive the ideas, understand the core concept, comprehend what they truly entail and their role in the world.
Thus, effectively blinded from what may linger behind, with the knowledge needed to weed it out all but unknown, one must forgive even the seasoned academic for slipping up.
I mean.
How can one possibly take into account - to defend against - something, if one may not even know it exists to begin with?

Yep things happen to people if they are things that they will never think about. It's also known as Violation of Common Sense, at least in some people's perspective of how certain things happen in ways they will never think about. What I hope is that her mind isn't warped along with it.
I like that her tail is getting pretty flexible, it'll totally be useful in cuddling things.
