“Prepare to meet thy doom, foul creature!” Filbert cried as he prepared to cast a spell.
“Wait!” cried Emino
“Elemental magic!” proclaimed Filbert as he ignored the robed bird’s plea. “Aero Blast!”
PA-WHOOSH!
“Puh!” Emino gasped as a fierce gust of wind made contact against his chest. The force was so great that it lifted him off the ground and threw him against the wall.
Lucky was spared from the full force of Filbert’s magical attack but still found himself lifted up, flipped, and dropped hard onto his back.
“Ouch!” he cried.
Still focused on his target, Filbert held the staff above his head and shouted, “Earthen magic! Vine Snare!”
CRACK, CRACK, CRACK
FWIP, FA-WIP, FWIP
“Ungh,” groaned Emino as he found himself being quickly bound to the wall by a series of vines that magically appeared all around him.
“No!” Lucky screamed. “Emino!”
“What?” wondered Filbert as he noticed Lucky lying on the floor. “Are thou alright, little one?”
Lucky sat himself up and stared at Filbert with tear filled eyes as he stated, “Please don’t hurt him.”
Filbert glared at the ensnared bird man before returning his gaze towards Lucky and saying, “Has thou been bewitched by this creature?”
“Huh?” asked Lucky with a look of total confusion and fear on his face.
Filbert walked toward Lucky and knelt before him.
“Everything is alright, child,” he said while gently rubbing Lucky’s back. “That wretched fiend shall trouble you no more.”
“But he’s a friend,” Lucky stated. “He’s here to help.”
Filbert stood up and glared deeply at the robed blue bird.
“Is this true?” he asked.
“Yes,” Emino struggled to say. “I came here to help stop an evil force that has long threatened the safety of the entire cosmos.”
Filbert reached toward his left side and pulled out a dagger from a small sheath that was attached to the belt he wore around his waist.
“Well then,” Filbert said as he used the dagger to cut the vines that held Emino prisoner. “Explain thyself.”
Emino coughed as he began to regain his breath while saying, “I’m from Lunis. There is a force that I’ve been tracking that made its way into your world through the Planar Void.”
“Planar Void?” Filbert asked. “I know of no such place.”
“It is a desolate wasteland in which separates the physical universe in which we live in from the Spirit World,” stated Emino. “It is often used as a prison for beings whose power cannot be contained otherwise as there is believed to be no escape from it. However, some force has found a way to not only escape the Planar Void but also use it as a sort of an ‘interstellar highway’ to invade worlds such as yours.”
“I see,” Filbert said as he put his hand to his chin.
Lucky looked at the haposaur before him and noted that he was wearing a small crown on his head that had an emerald attached to it. He also had an elegant, red cape that flowed behind him that was held together in the front by two golden clasps.
“Could it be?” asked Lucky as he also took notice of the belt that supported a pair of daggers. “You’re Filbert the Adventurer?”
The green Haposaur looked down towards lucky and said, “Adventurer?
“You know this guy?” Emino asked.
Lucky ran towards Emino and stated, “Emino! This is Filbert! He’s the greatest Haposaur hero ever!”
Filbert scratched his head as he said, “I am humbled by your remarks, little one. However, I fear thou may be mistaken of my identity.”
“Not to interrupt,” Emino stated as the purple mist started to make its way into the chamber. “But I need you to stand beside me or else you may fall victim to the enchanted mist that has bewitched many within this building.”
Filbert assumed a defensive position as he called out, “Young one. Thou should take refuge behind me.”
Lucky listed to Filbert without question.
“Have you encountered this before?” asked Emino.
“No,” Filbert replied as he began to twirl the staff about. “But this is not the first time in which I have been up against such a magical force.”
FWISH-TING
Filbert raised the Saurral Staff to the air as it radiated with a white light and released a majestic array of white puffs.
“Spiritual magic!” he cried. “Anti-Magic Aura!”
FWISH
Lucky felt a pleasant sensation sweep about him as a breeze of white encircled him and Filbert.
“What was that?” asked Emino.
Filbert smiled and said, “I’ve conjured a spell to protect the little one and myself against this floating hex.”
“I see you conveniently forgot me,” added Emino as he became covered in sparkles.
“Thou art a telepath, right?” asked Filbert.
“I prefer being referred to as a Spiritual Sorcerer,” stated Emino. “But, yes. I am capable of telepathic communication.”
“If thou is as skilled as thou claims to be then thou has nothing to fear from this particular curse.”
Emino shrugged as he realized that Filbert apparently didn’t quite trust him.
“Little one,” Filbert said as he directed his attention toward the yellow youngster behind him. “What is thy name?”
Lucky nodded and replied, “My name is Lucky. Lucky Saurral.”
“Lucky Saurral?” questioned Filbert in a shocked tone. “Are thou not too young for such responsibility?”
“My daddy is the Saurral.” Stated Lucky as his eyes grew wide. “And he needs our help!”
Filbert reached down and picked up Lucky.
“Let us then be off to the aid of our brothers and sisters!” he proclaimed before darting out of the room. “Show me the way!”
Emino sighed as he watched Filbert completely ignore his presence again.
“It would seem trust does not come easy with this one,” he said as he chased after Filbert and Lucky.

Thanks so much, Tacki. *Hugs* Your support in my effort to make this story better has meant a lot.
I had some things I needed to sort out yesterday and today. My hope for tomorrow is to get back into updating more of the book and releasing Chapter 8 soon. It's been so fun taking a simplified approach in which, I feel, makes it such a more bearable read for everyone while not ruining the integrity of the tale.
*Hugs* Thanks again, Tacki.
