And this is where words collide..... Artemis has heard this guilt-ridden, one-sided, dejected and fatalistic conversation and has seemed to leap to a reasonable conclusion.... that is if you pre-thought him guilty of this action, he has just confirmed it.

Likewise, if you thought him innocent, you may hear this as a musing on his life till now and think he could be referring to his prior enemy status, his actions toward Artemis and the fact that he -is- the most likely suspect...... and as we have seen, his people do not seem to require evidence before attacking so he does not expect they will need such niceties either.
