Greetings,
Given how prevalent it has become I wanted to give some avenues of protection regarding these scams taking place on Telegram and Discord mostly. The first point of attack would be information. You are welcome to yoink this for your own personal use or make one of your own. For anything that has an auction, whether adopts, YCHs etc, I would post this in the description, and wherever your comments you intend to have the bidding so that your bidders are aware.

For the color I grabbed it from here- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/10988173/ just make sure if you're typing in the color name vs the hex code, that it is all lower case. I am also using a lower caps, and the H4 sizing for it.
This way you can spread information and awareness as these scammers are banking on the notion of your bidders thinking it's you. It's a good idea to ensure what methods of contact or Social media you do have or your preferred method of contacts for winners for their and your protection.
While I use telegram and discord, You will know it's me as I have my socials links, and I've been on both for a very long period of years, I also have a server on each platform. However with winners, I do not contact them through that and go with notes for the sake of a trail and tracking system for both of us. I only Invoice my customers which again are custom invoices that have a lot of markers and links on them so you know it's me.
I will never ask for "Friends and Family" That's usually a huge red flag and one of your first indicators. And while I take multiple forms of payment, I have custom invoices for each and every one to protect my clients and myself. Auctions are fun and a nice way to give possible clients something special, so we as artists, lets try to protect that by spreading awareness and this information.

Another something to cover, while you can report these people, they rarely contact the Artist, but they do contact bidders trying to hit them with
• "You're the winner, You've won" Send payment via friends and family.
• Auction has ended early Send payment via friends and family.
•Also under no circumstances. Do NOT INTERACT WITH THEM, do not give them anything but figure out their user ID, their discord name, report them and block them. Give them nothing.
You understand the gist.
But being aware of this scam and help protect each other, and while we can report these accounts, it's easy to make another sock puppet and keep changing names and trying to impersonate. One of my own went through 4 different names in less than ten minutes.
• So be aware of who it is contacting you.
•One of the main ways we can nip this in the bud, is make it not viable for them.
•Don't feed the trolls, report them, and do not give them money.
•Do your due dilligence and ensure who you are sending money too is the actual person, and not an impersonator.
