I'd say yes, but with a twist. I don't know the character or how fitting it is for him but maybe he has some spells in place that prevent a full change, or anything else you can think of. Maybe one of the Hunters becomes his/her new master and takes him/her with them? Just to spice it up a little.
But again, I don't know where this story is headed in the next few chapters, so my suggestions may be completely unfitting for the scenario. It would be interesting to see what you could come up with though. =)
