...there would be a machine/pill/treatment that temporarily transforms you into an anthro animal of your choice. It would wear off after a certain amount of time, and could immediately be reversed by an "antidote" if you found it not to your liking. Twofers on couples!
It would probably have to be regulated carefully, though; I can imagine a few black market drones whipping up a chimera or wendigo formula in their basement.
