So, a little over a year ago I lost my pet that I had since I was two years old. He was my best friend that I could share anything with and it was very difficult to watch him go. I wrote this poem after I kind of came to grips with everything.

I saw you today, I heard you too
Not in person, a way so new
In my dreams, you were there
You couldn't stay, it wasn't fair
Reaching out, I couldn't touch
That little face, I loved so much
Said come home, I miss you so
You faded to black, needed to go
Called for you, alone I remained
Left with memories, just not the same
Every adventure, all the walks
The only one, to hear me talk
When I was lost, when I fell apart
You were there, to mend my heart
Drying my tears, making me smile
Forgetting worries, for a long while
Thinking back, I remember the day
My soul was crushed, I have to say
To take you in, see you not knowing
What was coming, your eyes still glowing
Watching you there, slowing fast
All I wanted, could not last
There you went, quietly sleeping
The life was gone, I sat there weeping
Eyes locked on mine, you had went
Through it all, your message sent
Although you're gone, I'll be okay
We'll end up together again someday.
